Phelps can really hog the only acceptable perching stone at the beloved park fountain bar.

A handsome tuxedo cat sits comfortably on a small gray boulder and greedily slurps water out of a bird bath shaped like a sunflower. A House Panther sits half on and half off another, less desirable boulder and glares because the Tuxie is taking much too long.

Fortunately there are nearby options like the new Sushi vending machine…

The same handsome House Panther laps crystal clear water from a small, kidney shaped pond, filled with lily pads and, presumably, delectable fishies.

…which Human Daddy finally remembered to stock with Fishies.

Unobtrusive

Nothing to see here, Birdies. Nothing but a highly unobtrusive gray stone, shading herself under the maple tree.

What’s that, Birdies? You don’t recall there being a stone here yesterday?

A grey and white cat sits innocently beneath a small Japanese maple tree. There are white daisies and cheerful yellow vining flowers in the foreground. Aside from her pointy ears, whiskers, and red, belled collar, she’d be really easy to mistake for a stone.

Well, you know Human Daddy has been doing a lot of landscaping.

He must have placed the highly unobtrusive gray stone here as a subtle decorative element and as a prime place for Birdies to perch.

Inspection

Human Daddy has built a lovely octagonal seating area around our central front yard tree.

An imperious tortie stands on a low, dark wooden platform in an octagonal shape, which surrounds the trunk of a small tree. Her head is turned slightly to her right and she is fixing someone with her yellow, intimidating gaze. There are a pair of black, slightly blurry, cat ears in the foreground. It is evident that the other cat is not welcome on the tortie’s platform.

I have completed the requisite inspection and I am pleased to announce that the structure, like everything Human Daddy builds, has passed with flying colors.

Also, it is mine and only mine.

Don’t even think about sitting on my platform, Darth.
