Sometimes you have to be assertive. For example, if nobody offers you wet food or treats in a timely manner, feel free to jump up on the counter and vocalize your displeasure at the long wait.
The less waiting the better. I prefer not to be assertive–I prefer for my Humans to anticipate my desires and fulfill them before I make the slightest move. Humans are notoriously hard to train. Sigh…
*smiles smugly* I have trained my cats instead. No firm dinner hours. No routine in mornings (I get up at different hours, according to my moods and sometimes I suffer from insomnia – and I lie in at the weekend). Cats are highly adaptable, so I don’t feel bad, as long as they get fed, get their toilet cleaned twice a day and have their attention from me, they will be happy … Training me? You wish …
Ah, that is where I know “Finnegan’s wait” from … π
