I remember when I brought Morgan home. We are all cats here. At first I kept her in a room with a door until she adjusted. Then I put up a tall (4′) gate on the doorway instead of closing it. The little stinker slid right through the bars and went to meet her housemates without me. All went well but there is no gate that is cat proof.
Luna, keep that woofie on the other side till you understand everything about him. Sometimes the woofies are good, sometimes they’re just out for exercise and will chase you till you drop.
