Reminds me of a very old book by Robert A. Heinlein called The Door into Summer.
A delightful read for it’s era. The story’s cat does this same dance in winter, but goes from door to door to door, looking for the one that opens up to summer warmth!

My friend’s cat, Jezebel, used to do that. She never found the door or window that opened up to spring in a wintry Montana.
